Welcome to our website! Clarendon is a small community located on the eastern banks of the scenic White River. As our welcome signs located at the three entries into our city indicate, we are the "Gateway to the White and Cache River Refuge." We serve as the county seat and are very proud of our beautiful historic Monroe County Court House.

Mayor Branch

Three years ago "Visions for Clarendon" was formed and from that we have developed a strategic plan for compatible economic development. We have numerous volunteers who have worked long hours to bring many positive changes to Clarendon and we are now reaping the benefits of their efforts.

I invite you to visit our newly renovated Welcome/Tourist/Community Center as you travel throughout our great state. The Center is located in the downtown area of the city on the corner of Madison and Second Streets. The top floor of this beautiful historic building serves as offices for the Nature Conservancy and the University of Arkansas Delta Research and Design Center. These agencies are both working toward developing tourism in the Delta area as one of their goals.

We are a very progressive-minded community with a friendly atmosphere, and we invite you to stop by and visit our many historical sites during your stay in our city.
